No. If you hear slam slam without a whoosh just before like a “cushy air landing” of the wood top, then your seal will not be good enough to keep the humidor or your cigars hydrated. Listen carefully to the video, the whoosh is what you want.

  2. CigarStudent says:

The wood has dried during storage in a wharehouse, shipping on a truck, etc. The wood need to be able to support a humidity of around 70%, so that when you put your cigars in there, you don’t dehydrate them to a crisp, but rather, keep them hydrated from 60-70% humidity.

Can you please put a video of how to calibrate an analog hydrometer using salt? I have an Ellie Bleu and do not want to use my digital hydrometer because it really does nothing for the aesthetics of the piece.

I think you are better off with a SLOW seasoning: place a big tub of distilled water in there for 4-6 days and let the wood SLOWLY soak up the moisture of the water

Too complicated. I keep my cigars in a cardboard box. They stay fine, and smoke great.

From everything I’ve read the wipedown method is much more risky than using the 1/2 full glass with distilled water and propylene glycol with regard to warping the cedar. Considering the extra effort, what advantages do you find using the wipe down method?
